Should Rio Ferdinand have been banned for four matches?

"Manchester United are to appeal against the four-match ban that the Football Association has handed to Rio Ferdinand."

"The defender was originally given a three-match ban by the FA after video footage showed him lashing out at Craig Fagan during United's 4-0 win over Hull earlier this month."|||Why not? I don't tolerate malicious behavior too. He was immature to do something like that. Just got back from injury, and you know the team needs you, but you gotta go and do something foolish like that, just because someone so called "provoked" you. It's football mate, such "provocations" happen all the time, and I expect more from an experienced player like him. I bet Sir Alex is angry at him too.

And I'm a United fan.|||Why not? He didn't accept the original three match ban and decided to appeal, knowing that if he lost the appeal, he would get a further penalty.|||yes, those guys who appealed are numpties. I bet Ferguson put him up to it. They had no chance of winning any appeal yet wasted everyone's time in doing so.|||no, he should get 6 months for common assault.|||he was provoked by that dirty idiot chris fagan who deserved it as he took the piss out of van der sars wife and was provoking rio all game|||YES!|||No...unless the FA is going to be consistent and give everyone who commits a similar offence the same punishment in retrospect. The fact is that they haven't been which makes such punishment unjust and unfair.|||yes i cant see his grounds for appeal for the original offence , you do the crime you serve the time
