Why do they call it soccer?

it is called futbol in all the Spanish speaking countries... why don't the Spanish speaking countries call it pieball? or piebalon? or piepelota? "fut" doesn't mean anything in Spanish and "bol" means bowl... how does that make sense? apparently the only wrong way to refer to association football is to call it soccer (even though the same people invented both terms)Why do they call it soccer?
Soccer is the short version of Association... or something like that. Its a nickname that stayed.

Futbol is football pronounced with a Spanish accent like basquetbol or beisbol. Saying Balompie or Baloncesto just doesnt sound right to me.

Now stop asking stoner questions.
Basically when you call Association Football "soccer" it's like telling a Dallas Cowboy fan that Dallas don't play football, they play "gridiron".

Most countries of the world call it Football, they just spell it differently. Why do they call it soccer?
I don't understand why people care what Americas call it.

"when they stop playing soccer and start playing football then they will be champs" idk. I heard something like that on tv. It isn't word for word, but it was similar to that.
It is not necessary to say same thing for understanding Americans say Soccer we say football but the thing is same so i think it doesn't matter whatever we say. That is only language of understandingWhy do they call it soccer?
I heard they used it before in England also, but then it was only called football. Soccer never really made sense to me.
its not soccer its called football . everyone in the world calls it football except for America.
Because they dont really care what they call sports they are not good at
because football is taken by the NFL
