Probability Question?

The local Football Association consists of 10 teams. Theam A has a 40% chance of winning any game against a higher-ranked team, and a 75% chance of winning any game against a lower-ranked team. If A is currently in 4th position, find the probability that A wins its next game.Probability Question?
uhm, I think the other guy is right for the purpose of your question...I just have a question for him...that would give you the chance of winning each game if they played all teams, provided their stats didn't change. Would it not make sense that when calculating for just the next game alone...then you have to take into account the chance of playing one team or another...there is a 33.33% chance that they will play a higher ranked team, and a 66.6% chance they will play a lower ranked team (as they are twice as likely to be playing a lower ranked team)? So, your equation should change to (40)0.333+(75)0.666=63.27. This takes into the account that they will be more likely to be playing a lower ranked team. I don't know about this stuff and this is just my opinion, so for the other person who answered, if I am wrong, please explain to me why.Probability Question?
If team A is ranked fourth, there are three teams above and six below. Therefore the probability of their playing a better ranked team is (.4)3 + (.75)6 = (.12 + .45) = .57 = 57%
