Is this a form of Discrimination?

I need some advice. My son has just gone into S1 at secondary school and is an avid football fan. He has been told by his School that he is too old to play for his S1 football side.

Now he is no way ready to play for the S2 football team so i feel as an S1 pupil he should be given all the opportunities other S1 kids get.

Now i have spoken to the heads of the Schools Football Association and they have told me that the age group is for Under 13's and not S1 pupils, so because my son has a birthday mid december he is not aloud to take part in the football team with his friends, is this discriminating against him?Is this a form of Discrimination?
Yes, it is discrimination, but it sounds to me like this can be easily solved. Ask the SFA for the written guidelines and present them to the school's principal. I think the "and not s1 pupils" should mean that because your son is an s1 student, he should be in the s1 league. But, if the SFA says your son should be playing s2, then he will have to play s2 due to his age. There is nothing illegal about this type of discrimination.
how can this be discrimination

your son is to old,

playing with older boys will make your son a better player and as for not being with his friends, he will soon make new friends and it wont be long before his old friends will be joining him.

i think your making this into a big deal when its just about your boy growing upIs this a form of Discrimination?
More like tough luck as opposed to discrimination.

Try and find a team outwith school.

Perhaps a good life lesson for him that in life not everything is fair or goes your way; you just dust down and get on with things.
No, its not discrimination

If he wants to play Football, he is going to have to be a bench warmer for the older kidsIs this a form of Discrimination?
If he is too old for that group then he is too old. There is no discrimination.
no it aint so stop being soft let him be a man an play with big boys do you want your little boy to grow up to be a mouse a little ponsie girl who like to make daisy chains????
Rules are rules. If he is too old, he is too old. You should leave it at that . Not discrimination at all.
