The mordern game of football was invented in ENGLAND and so the list should be

Football (ENGLISH)



Also the world governing body is F茅d茅ration Internationale de FOOTBALL Association FIFA NOT FISA



So is anyone with me to remove this ugly word?

i don't agree, soccer is the American way to say football. i don't agree that American Football should be called football because it doesn't make any sense, but as an American i like to use the word Soccer, it's our own. i mean the English invented the word so it's their own fault if they don't like it.





As a side note i think it's pretty sad that as "inventors of the game" England has never won a Euro Cup (and failed to even qualify this year), and had to rob a world cup in their own country since they couldn't win it on their own!Do I have a hope of removing the word Soccer?
Maybe you need to get a life and worry about more important things in life. Different countries have their way of life and word usage. In some other countries its called soccer.



If there is a world wide usage of football and not soccer i dont think it will make the English soccer team the best in the world still.



I bet you dont speak out this much about the present bad government in UK which is taxing people's lives.
American football only gets 170million viewers for the superbowl. The FA cup in England had nearly half the world's population watching, just for those that don't know, 3 billion.

i think that football(american) should be called soccer, ya know like sock it to her, and soccer should be footabll, because you can only play it with your feet!!!!!!!!!

I agree! I hate the word soccer, which was invented by those McDonald makers! Also, USA is cr*p at THE FOOTBALL anyway.

i dont think it will ever leave. because football (american) is more popular in america than football (soccer), it cant leave. thats just that. i could care less what its called. just as long as i can play(:
Why do you assume football was invented in England? There are a number of countries who lay claim to this but the Chinese theory seems to be the most believable!
Why is American football called football anyway they throw the damn thing! Football is played with the feet not the hands!
