Math problem help!?

a football association expects to sell 500 tickets at a charity game. some tickets are for $8 and the rest are for $5. ticket sales are to cover $1500 production costs, $1000 donation to charity and $600 to use for other games. if they are to meet these costs only, how many of the 500 tickets should they sell at $8 and $5 each?Math problem help!?
That's quite a hard question i tried but i cant solve it sorry
300 tickets for $5 and 200 tickets for $8

300X5+200X8=1500+1000+600

3100 = 3100Math problem help!?
They should except to sell 200 tickets for $8 and 300 tickets for $5. Cause first you take $1500 + $1000 + $600 = $3100 and then I took 500 / 2 and it was 250 x 5 and 250 x 8 which gave me 3250 so then I figured to take 200 x 8 and 300 x 5 and that gave me exactly 3100:

1500 + 1000+ 600 = 3100 200 x 8 =1600 300 x 5 =1500

1500 + 1600 = 3100
Two equations are:

x +y = 500

5x +8y = (1500+1000+600)

That should get you started. Restate y in terms of x, then solve for x. You have to do some work yourself if you are to learn anything.

x= number of $5 tickets, y = number of $8 tickets.Math problem help!?
Suppose the number of $5 tickets they sell is x

Then the value of tickets sold is x * 5 + (500 - x) * 8

Simplify: Value of tickets sold is 4000 - 3 * x

Cost of the game is 1500 + 1000 + 600 = 3100

To cover costs, 4000 - 3 * x = 3100

Solve: x = 300

The association should sell 300 tickets at $5 and 200 tickets at $8
