Why do the British criticize Americans for using the word Soccer?

Why do the British criticize Americans for using the word Soccer (in contrast to Football)?

Soccer is a British-derived term to shorten the the longer name of "association football." American Football derived from the second form of football..."rugby football."

Why are they always whining when soccer is a British term, invented by the British? Why do the British criticize Americans for using the word Soccer?
i dunno. i say soccer because it's confusing to everyone else who watches american football here in north america. so i can't say football, obviously.

:D
Because we would use 'football' but know what people mean when they say ' soccer' where as Americans think the word 'football' is purely for them and call our game 'soccer'. You've already messed up our language by changing words and making them stupid and now you're nicking our 'football'! when you 'invent ' your own 'words' and 'language' you can do what you want, but you haven't so don't!Why do the British criticize Americans for using the word Soccer?
We only 'whine' when Americans criticise us for describing 'soccer' with the word football. You kick a ball with your foot. Hence, foot-ball. You only kick the pigskin for conversions. That's it. I think we've got more right to call it football.
AAAGH

its football, that's what we call it

how you feel if we refered to american soccer, or ice sticks or

rounders for baseball

we doN'T!

respect what we call it

FOOTBALL FOOTBALL FOOTBALL

ok?

FOOT

fWhy do the British criticize Americans for using the word Soccer?
We invented it!

We called it FOOTBALL!
Why do Americans speak "English" and not American?
You should kick their asses again.
