When the English themselves came up with the term?

South Africa, THE HOST NATION, calls it soccer.|||Yeah, they tried to differentiate between Rugby Football, so they came up with Soccer. Very true, the English coined the term, the Americans just kept using it.

But we still beat them and July 4th is when we celebrate it, yippie....GO USA!!!!!|||Countries like Canada, Australia, New Zealand also call it soccer.|||who cares who came up with it, the US are one of the only ones who still use it, everyone else knows it should be football|||People are ignorant , period.|||Mostly because people from England just try to find any way to poke fun at us and stuff like that. England step your fact game up!|||Don't know. I live in Australia and I call it soccer.|||because some places soccer means football|||I think it's the fact that Americans are still using it, that makes people laugh at us.|||I don't, but I still think Soccer is a stupid word.
